Phil Cockle is a scruffy, slim and helpful author from the hood. His life is going nowhere until he meets Sally Cox, a short, pudgy woman with a passion for playing the piano.

Phil takes an instant disliking to Sally and the clumsy and cowardly ways she learnt during her years in Ohio.

However, when a robber tries to trick Phil, Sally springs to the rescue. Phil begins to notices that Sally is actually rather bold at heart.

But, the pressures of Sally's job as a cleaner leave her blind to Phil's affections and Phil takes up reading to try an distract herself.

Finally, when spiteful swordsman, Jessica Johnson, threatens to come between them, Sally has to act fast. But will they ever find the splendid love that they deserve?
