Selena Gomez passed Kylie Jenner on Friday to become the first woman to have 400 million Instagram followers, just a few weeks after ousting Jenner from the top spot. With 382 million Instagram followers, Jenner is not far behind, but Gomez has been quickly gaining ground.

Soccer players Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, who have 562 and 442 million followers, respectively, are the only two users who have more Instagram followers than Gomez.

Before Ariana Grande and Kylie Jenner took the position in 2019 and 2020, Gomez had the title of the most followed woman. Unexpectedly, Gomez's reappearance occurs while she is withdrawing from social media. She recently admitted to having solely the TikTok app on her phone to Vanity Fair, adding that she has tried to implement "filters" to shield herself from trolls and cruel comments.

Gomez said, "People can call me ugly or stupid and I'm like, Whatever. But these people are quite specific. They create incredibly precise and scathing pieces. I would be sobbing nonstop. I was unable to continue because of persistent anxiousness. My time was wasted on that.

The sole homicides The actor from In the Building claimed that she was "inundated with information" on social media that she didn't want.

She explained that during her breakup, she went through a difficult period and didn't want to read any feedback, not just about the relationship but also about how people saw her compared to her ex-partner.

Even if there were many positive comments, she would only focus on the negative ones. Although social media has some benefits like connecting with fans and their stories, she now only receives filtered content through her assistant who manages her posts. Her team selects a few encouraging comments for her to see.

To mark the achievement, Gomez shared a series of pictures with groups of fans on her Instagram account in the form of a carousel on Sunday morning.
